Currently all code and graphics are done by author above, eventually the game map graphics such as tiles, objects and movables are being replaced by 3d models converted to 2d images made by Martin Halbersma.

 

The game is in beta stages and will be put up for download as soon as a playable version is ready.

Dawn of the New World Order (or dnwo in short) is a turnbased strategy game wich takes place on a map of the world. The game starts around the year 1200 ad, the end date isnt decided at the moment. But it will end before 1900. The player can select one of 12 european nations, the purpose is to strengthen and expand your territory on the mainland and become the strongest nation. Player will need to build colonies all over the world to get resources that become usable as the game progresses.
When the game ends scores are calculated these are based on Economy/trade, Millitary, Empire, Richness, Colonies, Battle results, Pollitical influence etc. There are multiple ways to win the game.

The game is turnbased, players will start with one capital and a city, players can expand there empire and by researching new technolgies and units can be discovered. Armies and fleets can be used to discover new territory, defend or attack.
A unique resource system will bring a new gameplay element to the game.
Your capital will be the most important building, your country will also have a king and royal bloodline, these units are also of great importance. Losing your bloodline will result in catostraphic events.
Players can trade and pollitical options are available.
The game ai will consist of european minor nations and local residents of foreign continents. These can be aggressive neutral or passive.
For now the game is multiplayer only, maybe a single player mode will be added later.

What you see here is the map engine working, a large map is generated out of a world template and resources are spawned and random objects are added. The border selection funtion is working properly (wich selects the transition tiles between 2 of a different kind) Each continent has a different set of resources so players have to set up trade routes.
